¨ Free initial interview/consultation visit

¨ Prenatal visits:

We conduct prenatal visits once a month until the 32nd week of pregnancy, one visit at 34 and one  at 36 weeks, and then once a week until labor begins. Most visits are an hour long. At each visit we will  check your blood pressure, pulse, and weight, conduct a urine screen, listen to fetal heart rate, assess fetal growth and position, and measure uterine growth. The rest of the visit is spent getting to know clients and their families better. Time is spent to help families make informed choices surrounding their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Time is also spent on emotional wellbeing of the mother as she experiences the many different emotions surrounding pregnancy. Building a relationship with clients is an essential part in facilitating families and their needs.

¨ Labor and birth:

We are on call 24/7 for our clients. When early labor begins we suggest that you eat and drink as you normally would and to continue with your normal routine or take time to rest. We will come to your home when you feel ready. During labor we will monitor well being of mother and baby by taking vitals and listening to baby’s heart rate. After the birth we will stay at least two hours, sometimes longer, depending on the need. In that time we will closely monitor mother and baby, assess maternal bleeding and suture if necessary, weigh baby and conduct a complete newborn exam, and help establish breastfeeding.

¨ Postpartum visits:

We conduct a postpartum visit at 24 hours, 2-3 days, 1week, 3weeks, and at 6-8 weeks. At each visit we will check vitals of both mother and baby as well as emotional well being of the new mother. We will perform newborn screening tests and administer vitamin K if desired. We also will fill out a birth certificate. We continue to be on call to answer questions you may have about yourself or your new baby.
